We are on the lookout for adaptable Heavy Equipment Operators to join our growing team. These positions involve the operation of heavy equipment, including but not limited to excavators, dozers, haul trucks, backhoes, and wheel loaders. The Equipment Operators will primarily work on project sites in the Pittsburgh, PA area. A successful candidate should possess a positive attitude and at least one year of prior experience operating heavy equipment.

Essential Functions

Operates Heavy Equipment

As a Snow Removal Equipment Operator, you’ll be responsible for operating heavy equipment with earth-moving capabilities of at least 70,000 pounds. This role requires skill, precision, and a commitment to safety.

Operation of Bulldozer and Excavator

You’ll operate bulldozers and excavators, with or without GPS technology, ensuring efficient snow removal and site maintenance.

Safety First

Safety is our top priority. You’ll be expected to follow company and OSHA safety procedures rigorously to maintain a secure working environment.

Maintenance and Reporting

Routine inspection and preventive maintenance of equipment are crucial. You’ll be responsible for reporting defects or needed repairs to the foreman and/or superintendent.

Compliance and Communication

Compliance with company control standards and procedures is essential. Effective communication with team members and superiors is vital for successful project execution.

Manual Labor and Teamwork

In addition to equipment operation, you may be involved in manual labor tasks, such as digging, shoveling, and assisting with pipe placement. Promoting teamwork is crucial to increase productivity and efficiency on the job.

Types of Equipment

Bulldozer and Excavator with GPS Technology

Our fleet includes bulldozers and excavators equipped with GPS technology, allowing for precise and efficient snow removal.

Haul Trucks

You may also operate haul trucks, with varying tonnage capacities, to transport snow and materials.

Work Environment

Working in this role, you’ll often be exposed to challenging conditions, including fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. You’ll need to adapt to extreme weather conditions and be prepared for a noisy work environment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this job are extensive and include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and more. Good vision, agility on uneven terrain, and the ability to adjust focus are required.

Position Type and Hours

This is a full-time position, typically encompassing 40 hours per week. The days and hours of work may vary based on project needs, occasionally requiring weekend and overtime work.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of experience in operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work from construction specifications and blueprints.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Degree or certificate in Heavy Equipment Operation or a related field.
  • Two to five years of experience in operating heavy equipment related to site development.
  • Valid driver’s license.
